You are the house

This is what I heard in the tank:

The only way you can lose at the game of life is to not play. To sit on the sidelines and do nothing. That’s why we always tell you to go and be and do and act – the bigger the game you play, the higher the reward. Risk little, gain little. Risk big, gain huge.

But what if, I asked, I risk it all and lose it all?

Ah, I heard, It’s not like Vegas where the house has the ultimate odds. You are the house. You cannot lose. Even if you lose all your possessions you can start again, this time with experience gained and lessons learned.

I asked: How do I free myself of expectations?

And I heard: Most expectations involve other people. Truly understand that everyone is on their own path, and only they know the nuances of that path. What you see is a mere moment taken out of context – or rather, you’ve taken it out of their context and placed it into yours.

I asked, Is meditation another way to connect to my higher self?

I heard, Meditation is a tool but it’s only the beginning. It shows you the door. There is so much more beyond it. Find a quiet place and invoke this feeling, this sense of knowing your essential self. The idea is not absence of thought – it’s to go beyond thought and tap into your eternal space.

    K Dot,

There is no measurement in living our life. We live the moments we experience, make choices that create the next moment. The consequences are neither good or bad, winning or losing. The just are what they are. They are the consequence of our choices so all we can do is take responsibility for our choices and move on with the wisdom we have gained. When we submit to external validation of our life, it is no longer OUR life.

Expectations are a poison. They are living based on what is received, a contingent based existence. Free yourself by living a giving life that is unconditional. Receive what comes your way the same way, without judgement.

The tank experiences and meditation can be useful but remember they are an isolated introspective view of ourselves. One piece of the puzzle. By using attention, awareness and discernment in our daily experiences and the reflecting upon them we will see our true self in the life we actually live. Use the mirror of life to help see. And there is no room for the egoic mind to be a part of this process.

My entries are open to interpretation; however you’ve taken my use of the word “win” a bit too literally. Winning in this case was meant in a broader, more abstract way. The act of striving towards one’s life purpose, no matter what the results, is enough. Ego–whether in the form of wealth or possessions–is entirely outside of it.

    You are free to disagree.
