You are the house

This is what I heard in the tank:

The only way you can lose at the game of life is to not play. To sit on the sidelines and do nothing. That’s why we always tell you to go and be and do and act – the bigger the game you play, the higher the reward. Risk little, gain little. Risk big, gain huge.

But what if, I asked, I risk it all and lose it all?

Ah, I heard, It’s not like Vegas where the house has the ultimate odds. You are the house. You cannot lose. Even if you lose all your possessions you can start again, this time with experience gained and lessons learned.

I asked: How do I free myself of expectations?

And I heard: Most expectations involve other people. Truly understand that everyone is on their own path, and only they know the nuances of that path. What you see is a mere moment taken out of context – or rather, you’ve taken it out of their context and placed it into yours.

I asked, Is meditation another way to connect to my higher self?

I heard, Meditation is a tool but it’s only the beginning. It shows you the door. There is so much more beyond it. Find a quiet place and invoke this feeling, this sense of knowing your essential self. The idea is not absence of thought – it’s to go beyond thought and tap into your eternal space.
